2026 Slinger Nationals | What to know about Wisconsin's top short-track race

With a handful of big Wisconsin asphalt super late model races behind us, the biggest is next on the calendar: the 47thSlinger Nationals on July 13-14.

NASCAR Cup Series top-10 driver Carson Hocevar, who has competed in the Slinger Speedway special three times, is the biggest national name on the 35-driver entry list. Wisconsinite Ty Majeski, the 2024 Craftsman Truck Series champion, is the early favorite, having won four times in the past eight years.

They’ll be joined by past winners, track champions, top prospects and national barnstormers, among others.

Here’s what to know.

Key Wisconsin motor sports events for the 2026 racing season

The 200-lap feature is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, but there is also a competitive aspect to Monday, which had typically been a practice day.

The winner collects $20,000 from the purse, plus bonus cash for leading laps. Lap leader bonus money posted by fans totaled $28,000 in 2025.

Entries have been trickling out at an increasing pace as the event nears and may continue to up to race day. Here are some notables on the 35-driver entry list, many of whom fall into multiple categories.

Slinger Speedway management has added a twist to the event with a “bracket challenge” and a 100-lap CRA Pro Late Model feature on Monday, which had been a simple practice day.

The top 32 cars in super late model practice throughout the day will be placed in a bracket with each driver running a three-lap time trial session against an opponent, with the best lap determining who moves on in the evening. There will be four rounds, with the final four drivers standing running the final round for $5,000 and a guaranteed spot in the feature.

Those lap times also will be used to set the qualifying order for the Tuesday night main event.

Monday: $12. Tuesday: $30 general admission or $35 reserved (top 10 rows). Discounts are offered for seniors, veterans and teens.

The two days of the Nationals follow a Sunday night “Prelude to the Nationals” headlined by the Midwest Truck Series.
