2026 Ballon d’Or: Harry Kane speaks on winning award ahead of Mbappe, Yamal
England captain, Harry Kane, has admitted he is in contention to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or award.
Kane was speaking with Owen Hargreaves in an interview to be aired on HBO Max.
According to him, the Ballon d’Or always throws up debates within football circles, about who is the most deserving.
Kane has been listed as a front runner for the prize, along with Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid), Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (PSG) and Rodri (Barcelona).
But the Bayern Munich striker believes the winner will come down to those who will vote in the polls.
Kane said: “The thing with football opinions – there are so many opinions, so many arguments for different players, and people love this player because ‘he’s fast’ and ‘he’s got great IQ’ and ‘his finishing is great’.
“So I think that is what makes football special, all those debates, and the Ballon d’Or is definitely one of them. I’m happy that I am in contention, so we will have to wait and see.”
