You’ll get lawsuit – Abati, Rufai clash on live TV over comment against presidential candidate [VIDEO]

Arise TV Morning Show hosts, Reuben Abati and Rufai Oseni, on Thursday clashed during the program following comments by the latter against the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Sandy Onor.

Rufai was reacting to a trending video of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, where he claimed he would secure the FCT and Rivers State for President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2027 presidential election.

The journalist criticised Wike over the comment, questioning why the minister, who remains a national leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, would openly support an APC presidential candidate instead of the party’s flagbearer.

Rufai alleged that the PDP presidential candidate had been made a “Gbewudani,” which he explained means “hold my clothes.”

However, Abati quickly cautioned him against making such defamatory comments about individuals, warning he could be sued for defamation.

“You will get a lawsuit. The issue is the ‘Gbewudani’; you cannot damage the integrity of people,” Abati warned.

Rufai, however, dismissed the warning, insisting that Wike’s position amounted to making a mockery of the PDP presidential candidate.

“You cannot say that there is a PDP candidate and you are openly saying that you are going to support Tinubu. That means you are making a mockery of the PDP candidate,” Rufai said.
