All eyes may be on Team USA’s upcoming campaign in the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup, but Angel Reese‘s recent milestones still get the attention ahead of the tournament.
In their last game before the WNBA break for the World Cup, Reese and the Atlanta Dream won 89-81 over the Minnesota Lynx, with the Bayou Barbie dominating from both sides of the court, which led former ESPN reporter Cindy Brunson to make a bold prediction about what she might achieve by the end of the season.
On Monday, I Talk Hoops shared a post on X highlighting Reese’s exclusive milestone of becoming the first player in WNBA history to record 200+ points, 150+ rebounds, 40+ assists, and 20+ steals in a single month.

In response, Reese talked about how the next Defensive Player of the Year may actually be found in Atlanta.

Reese pointed out how either she, Rhyne Howard, or Jordin Canada could take home the honors as their trio has limited their opponents to just 85.7 points per game.
Reese’s stats this season, on the other hand, make a strong case for the award: she leads the league in rebounds with 12.4 per game, including 7.4 defensive boards, while also ranking top three in steals with 1.8 per game.
Following their 89-81 win against the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday, the Atlanta Dream has given Angel Reese, Rhyne Howard, Isobel Borlase, and Sika Kone a proper send-off as the four of them will be heading to Berlin, Germany, for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup.
