Yankees announce lineup vs White Sox for Tuesday as Gerrit Cole starts

NEW YORK – White Sox starter Davis Martin is a big part of Chicago’s first-half success story.

Through 13 starts, the right-hander (9-2, 2.41 ERA) leads the league in wins and in ratio for the fewest home runs (0.3) per nine innings, yielding just three HRs in 78.1 innings.

Martin will be on the mound Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium, in the opener of a three-game set between the White Sox and Yankees.

And it’ll be Gerrit Cole (1-1, 2.45 ERA), making his fifth start of the year for the Yanks, and coming off a short outing (4 IP, 2 ER) in a no-decision last Tuesday at Cleveland.

Martin went six scoreless innings in his previous start, out-dueling Chris Sale in a 2-1 White Sox’s win against the NL East leading Atlanta Braves.

Also today, the Yankees announced that catcher Austin Wells (cervical headaches) would begin a minor league rehab assignment tonight at Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
