If you’re unfamiliar with the Yahoo Fantasy Football Expert League, let’s fill you in a bit before we go over what was a wild Week 1. Yahoo Fantasy houses some of the leading analysts in the industry and we were fortunate enough to get all of them in a league for the 2026 NFL season. To keep you up to date on things, we’ll be providing weekly recaps on all the action. Let’s get into it.

Before we get into who is at the top of the standings, CAN YOU BELIEVE WE HAD A TIE IN WEEK 1?!? Yes, the matchup between Yahoo analysts Justin Boone and Josh Norris ended in a 120.72-120.72 tie. Let’s look at the exact matchup and break things down:

Here’s a full look at the matchup between the two analysts from Week 1.

It was projected to be a tight matchup going into the week but what are the odds we get a tie? Can someone do the math on that really fast? Heading into Monday night’s matchup between the Chiefs and Broncos, Norris was trailing by 32.6 fantasy points — and that’s exactly the total he got from Kansas City RB Kenneth Walker III, who had a monster game with 173 rushing yards, three catches for 18 yards and two TDs. We’ll have to wait and see if this tie has any future implications in how the playoffs will be decided. An already exciting storyline to follow the rest of the way.

Okay, circling back to the Week 1 standings, Chris Allen had the highest score, knocking off Joel Smyth in their heavyweight bout. It was a pretty solid showing from Smyth despite the loss as he outscored two-thirds of the league thanks big games from Caleb Williams and Jahmyr Gibbs.

Behind Allen, Hayden Winks, Scott Pianowski, Matt Harmon and Max Loeb picked up wins in Week 1. Consistency was key for Winks, who got at least 8.6 fantasy points from every roster spot last week, his top performances coming from Chuba Hubbard, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Isaiah Likely.

Pianowski took some early victory laps on players he was high on during the draft process, most notably David Montgomery, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Zay Flowers and Juwan Johnson, helping lift him to a win over Eric Edholm in the opener.

It was a rough week for college fantasy analyst Eric Froton and fantasy basketball analyst Dan Titus, though it’s only Week 1, so no need to panic. And — by the way — these guys are covering other sports while be in the NFL waters with some sharks.

Looking ahead to Week 2, there isn’t a matchup of two teams that took home a win in Week 1. The best matchup may be between Boone (coming off the tie) and Pianowski, two teams currently sitting in playoff position early on.
