A number of professional wrestlers and UFC fighters have crossed over between the two sports down the years.
Brock Lesnar was perhaps the most successful WWE superstar to swap the squared circle for the Octagon.
CM Punk had a much tougher time when he gave up wrestling for a very brief career in UFC, while Ronda Rousey went the other way and cemented herself as a top star in WWE’s women’s division.
Now, Finn Balor has spoken about competing in MMA or boxing and revealed he has no plans to do so.
Finn Balor would rather stay in WWE than try to compete in UFC or boxing
Speaking as part of a panel for Zuffa_Boxing this week, Balor shared the ‘respect’ he has for all the fighters who compete in UFC or boxing, but he himself is not planning to cross over into another combat sport any time soon.
He said: “Well, obviously I have the utmost respect for the gentlemen that are up here beside me, and I wouldn’t take it lightly stepping in the ring with some of the boxers or in the cage with the fighters.
“They’re very disciplined guys, they know exactly what they’re doing, and I’d rather stay exactly in my lane in WWE, thank you very much.”
Instead, Balor now has his eyes on the Friday Night SmackDown roster after he was recently drafted from Monday Night Raw.
The former WWE Universal Champion recently made a list of potential friends or foes on the blue brand, sharing them on X.
They included some of his former Judgment Day teammates, as well as Cody Rhodes and Gunther.
Exactly what Balor is going to get up to after he was traded to the Friday night show remains to be seen.
But a move did make sense as it was clear that his character was becoming a bit stale on Raw.
