England midfielder, Eberechi Eze, has responded to questions regarding a Ghanaian witch doctor who purportedly placed a curse on Three Lions’ captain, Harry Kane during the 2026 World Cup.
The 27-year-old was questioned about the viral assertions that the Three Lions striker had been hexed during their scoreless draw with Ghana.
Self-proclaimed spiritualist, Nana Kwaku Bonsam had declared prior to the Group L match that he would cast a spell on Harry Kane to hinder the England captain’s performance against Ghana.
This is the same witch doctor who previously claimed responsibility for a knee injury that affected Cristiano Ronaldo in the 2014 World Cup.
Kane experienced a frustrating, goalless match in Foxborough.
When asked if the alleged curse had been a topic of discussion within the England squad, Eze chuckled and inquired whether the interviewer genuinely believed in such matters.
The midfielder then tactfully distanced himself from the topic, stating he was “not too interested,” indicating he had little desire to engage in that type of discussion.
The narrative gained traction due to Kane’s timing and exceptional form in the World Cup. The England captain had equaled Gary Lineker’s all-time England World Cup scoring record of 10 goals, leaving him just one goal shy of the outright record.
However, his failure to score against Ghana led to increased speculation regarding the possibility of him being cursed.
Bonsam has since asserted that he has “released” Kane from the spell.
