Wings' late rally falls short in SO, 4-3, as Larkin trade list grows

SEATTLE – Dylan Larkin’s trade list has expanded Tuesday, October 20 but the Red Wings’ win column did not.

The Wings came close to increasing their number, though, losing 4-3 in a shootout. Seattle won the shootout 2-1, with Larkin being stopped in the fourth and final round.

Alex DeBrinct’s power play goal, his 300th career goal, with 16.3 seconds left in regulation tied the game 3-3 and capped a furious third period Wings (3-3-3) rally to at least a point in the standings.

Viktor Arvidsson’s fourth goal (first at even-strength) at 6 minutes 25 seconds of the third period, cut the Seattle lead to 3-1 and Lucas Raymond’s first goal of the season, on the power play, made it 3-2 at 7:01.

The Wings trailed 3-0 after two periods, were outshot 22-11 through 40 minutes, and generally looked lost.

But Arvidsson’s goal off a rush sparked and awoke the Wings.

Goaltender Daniil Tarasov stopped 24 shots for the Wings, who continue their four-game road trip Thursday, October 22 in Vancouver.

Larkin, 30, assisted on Raymond’s and DeBrincat’s power play goals, Larkin’s third and fourth assist (and fifth point) of the season.

Larkin, it’s been confirmed by an NHL source, has now officially lengthened the list of teams he’d accept a trade to 10 teams – as previously been reported – with the list consisting of all playoff-caliber teams – Florida, Vegas, Tampa, Minnesota, Carolina, Dallas, New Jersey, Utah, Washington and Colorado.

Larkin is in the fourth year of an eight-year contract with an annual average value of $8.7 million, a bargain at current NHL standards.

Larkin isn’t the lone issue surrounding interim general manager Shawn Horcoff. Defenseman Simon Edvinsson, a restricted free agent, remains unsigned and must have a contract by Dec. 1 to be eligible to play this season.
