Will Wade brings viral March Madness hero to LSU basketball

One of college basketball’s most popular faces in recent years will join LSU men’s basketball during the upcoming season. Former McNeese student manager Amir Khan will join head coach Will Wade’s staff, according to a report from CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

Khan rose to prominence as the student manager for the Cowboys when Wade led McNeese through the NCAA Tournament in 2025. Khan went viral on social media during that season for his pregame entrances with the team, using a boombox.

When Wade left to take the head coach job at NC State, Khan went with him for a brief stint before returning to McNeese. Now, the pair is reunited in Baton Rouge ahead of Wade’s first season back with the Tigers.

Khan hails from Lake Charles. He’ll be part of an entirely new team and staff at LSU. Wade is putting together a team made of transfer portal and international players.
