An explanation for the respective absences of three high-profile Real Madrid stars from the club’s squad to face Fiorentina has on Friday been provided.
This comes after all of Dean Huijsen, Franco Mastantuono and Antonio Rüdiger were omitted from José Mourinho’s party for the fixture.
Los Blancos are primed to ramp up their preparations for the new campaign on Saturday. As new headmaster Mourinho and his staff continue in efforts to implement their ideas in Spain’s capital, Real have pencilled in a friendly meeting with Serie A outfit Fiorentina.
The club’s squad for the matchup, in turn, was unveiled on Friday.
Afforded call-ups for the trip were a pair of summer arrivals at the Bernabéu, in Denzel Dumfries and Carlos Espí, alongside the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Endrick and a host of youngsters.
As alluded to above, though, it was the respective absences of Dean Huijsen, Franco Mastantuono and Antonio Rüdiger which truly turned heads. Real Madrid insider Arancha Rodriguez has therefore since provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes at Valdebebas:
‘Huijsen is not traveling due to a minor muscle strain in his right leg. Nothing serious.
‘Mastantuono because he is looking for a way out (a loan transfer).
‘Rudiger because he has just arrived (from his summer vacation).’
