Isa Torres is a legendary Florida State athlete, and she was just the National Player of the Year in NCAA softball.
She won’t be playing another softball season for the Seminoles, though. Torres announced on Monday that she’s entering the college softball transfer portal.
Torres put out a heartfelt statement on social media to announce the news:

“Absolutely burn everything to the ground,” Florida State fan TJ Pittinger wrote on X. “Complete failure by this athletic department to not keep one of the greatest athletes in Florida State history.”
Torres has played three seasons at Florida State. She has totaled 261 hits with a .439 average.
That includes 49 doubles, nine triples and 34 home runs. She has a career 1.208 OPS.
Just in 2026, Torres batted .530 with 21 doubles, 7 triples and 16 homers with 56 RBI.
Someone will be getting a superstar for next spring.
Why is Isa Torres transferring from Florida State?
This isn’t something Torres would outwardly say, but this has to be about earning potential.
With no well-established professional softball league, it’s likely that the most earning she can do from this sport will happen in her final season at the NCAA level.
Clearly, Florida State hasn’t proven to Torres that they can match a big offer that she’s surely hearing about from elsewhere.
Whether or not all the monetary figures emerge fully or not down the road, Torres is at least in part chasing a life-changing payday. She’s the level of player who can get one.
