The immediate past Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, has attributed his resignation from the position to personal reasons.
His successor, Yekini Idiaye, said Agbebaku was removed over poor leadership and corruption.
While debunking the allegation in a statement on Monday, Agbebaku, through his media team, said he maintained a cordial working relationship with all 24 members of the House throughout his tenure.
“Differences will naturally arise because we all have our individual identities and beliefs. However, that did not stop us from passing people-oriented Bills and Resolutions in the last three years of my leadership,” he said.
He stressed that his decision was taken in the interest of peace, the state, and his immediate constituency.
The former Speaker, who represents Owan West Constituency, expressed appreciation to Governor Monday Okpebholo for his support and cooperation during his time in office.
