Why bring relationship disputes to social media – Uriel Oputa questions couples

Former Big Brother Naija housemate and entrepreneur, Uriel Oputa, has questioned the growing practice of taking private relationship disputes to social media.

Uriel raised the concern in a post on her social media page, asking why couples expose their personal disagreements to the public.

“When did social media become the family court?” she asked.

The reality star said she hopes to have a partner who understands that not every disagreement needs to be made public.

According to her, couples should resolve their differences privately through honest communication, family intervention or professional counselling where necessary.

She also warned that social media users who follow such disputes may take sides, share screenshots, create memes and argue in the comments before quickly moving on to another issue.

“Social media doesn’t love you the way you think it does,” Uriel said.
