The 49ers confirmed on Saturday that Shanahan’s injuries were non-life-threatening and that he would participate in team activities on a limited basis while he recovers.

The severity of the injuries indicates how much worse the situation could have been. The NFL world on social media sent prayers for Shanahan’s recovery, while 49ers analyst Grant Cohn wrote, “Whoa. Thank God he’s alive.”
