A full day of festivities will all come down to two minutes. It8217;s time for the third triple crown race of the season, the Belmont Stakes.
From last to first, Golden Tempo bounced back from a tough start to win the Belmont Stakes. Cherie DeVaux keeps expanding on history in this process. She became the first woman trainer to win the Kentucky Derby in May and now she joins Jena Antonucci as the only two women to win the Belmont Stakes.
Golden Tempo notably missed the Preakness Stakes after his underdog win at the Kentucky Derby. Even after a win in Kentucky, however, Golden Tempo was not the first or second favorite in Saratoga. Nevertheless, DeVaux’s horse defied the odds yet again, becoming a two-time champion in Triple Crown races.
After her win, DeVaux was at a loss for words, commenting that she needs to name her next horse “Amazing” after she used the word to describe a multitude of people and Golden Tempo.
