Who is Front Row Amy? Brewers superfan's World Series wish comes true

Amy Williams has wished for a Milwaukee Brewers World Series appearance every way she knows how, from birthday candles to shooting stars.

“So many wishes wishing the Brewers to the World Series. Those wishes have finally, finally been granted,” Williams, better known as Front Row Amy, wrote in a social media post minutes after the Brewers completed a sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers to advance to the World Series.

Now, with the World Series about to begin in Milwaukee on Friday, Oct. 23, Williams, a season ticket holder and longtime fixture behind home plate during Brewers games, is poised to make her World Series debut.

Here’s more about Front Row Amy, her Brewers fandom and her life outside the ballpark:

Who is Front Row Amy?

In mid-October, Williams told the Journal Sentinel she typically attends around 40 of the Brewers’ regular season games at American Family Field − this year, she was at 35 − and fully intends to be at every home postseason game, as usual.

“It’s a huge part of my life,” Williams said. “I can’t imagine not just being a die-hard fan of the Brewers. The experience just going there and sitting in my seat and keeping score − that is what I love to do.”

But Williams, of Oshkosh, is more than her fandom. She’s an accountant for a family business, a wife of over three decades, a mom of three kids in their 20s and an animal lover.”I’m just a normal person. I’m just a normal fan like anyone else who really, really loves the Brewers,” she said.

How did Front Row Amy become a Brewers fan?

Williams was actually born in the land of the Chicago Cubs, but her family moved to Oshkosh when she was around 9 years old.

In 2007, while laid up recovering from surgery, Williams decided to see for herself what the Brewers were all about and tuned into her first game and discovered Prince Fielder, J.J. Hardy, Corey Hart − and plenty of home runs.

“It was really exciting and I just was hooked from that first game that I watched,” she said.

It wasn’t long before she began attending games in person and learning to keep score by hand. In 2008, she got two season tickets for the fourth row behind home plate, then moved to the front row a few years later.

How did Front Row Amy become a Brewers celebrity?

During her first season in the front row, people started to take notice of Williams attending so many games.

“I think, at first, it was kind of the looks thing,” she said. “And me keeping score and being so involved in the game. And being a big fan, and people can relate to that.”

Since then, Milwaukee sports radio hosts have talked about her, sports websites have written about her and the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum even released a Front Row Amy bobblehead.
