Georgia won its first SEC regular season championship since 2008 and its first SEC Tournament title in program history.

Now it seeks the second national championship. The 1990 Bulldogs won the College World Series.

Texas (44-13) is the No. 6 national seed and was ranked ahead of Georgia in the USA Today coaches poll as late as May 4 when the Longhorns were No. 4 and Georgia No. 5.

The Longhorns lead No. 11 seed Oregon one game to none in the Austin Super Regional heading into a 9 p.m. ET game on Sunday June 7. Texas won the first game, 11-3, on Saturday.

Georgia and Texas did not play this season. The Longhorns swept a three-game series from Georgia last season in Austin.

Oregon (43-17) tied for third in the Big Ten behind UCLA and Nebraska and lost to UCLA in the conference tournament final.

The other teams in the Georgia side of the CWS bracket are the winner of Oklahoma-Kansas and the winner of Alabama-St. John’s.

West Virginia, Troy and Ole Miss filled out the first three teams on the other side of the bracket. North Carolina and USC played a game 3 Sunday afternoon for another spot.

The CWS begins June 12 and could last until June 22.
