Whit Turnbow among six to be inducted into MTSU Athletics Hall of Fame

Middle Tennessee State athletics has announced six inductees to its 2026 Hall of Fame class.

Among the six are former Blue Raiders golf standout and coach Whit Turbow and former all-conference quarterback Clint Marks.

Turnbow, a Shelbyville native, has served as the president of the Tennessee Golf Foundation since 2018. Prior to that he served in an administrative role in MTSU athletics following a successful run as Blue Raiders golf coach (2007-15), where he led them to six NCAA regional appearances and one NCAA championship appearance (2008).

As an MTSU player (1996-2000), Turnbow had three top-10 finishes in 31 tournaments and finished his Blue Raiders career with a 76.4 average. He played professionally after graduating.

Marks, a Florida native who now resides in Murfreesboro, played for the Blue Raiders football team from 2003-06, starting 36 games during that stretch. He led MTSU to its first FBS bowl appearance (2006) after winning a share of the Sun Belt title.

He finished his career ranked second in program history in completion percentage (66.0), fourth in completions (668), fourth in passing yards (7,342) and seventh in touchdown passes (37). He also became the first Blue Raider to pass for 2,000 yards in consecutive seasons.

Also announced in the 2026 Hall of Fame Class, which will be inducted on Nov. 6, include:

John Ampomah (track and field): Ampomah competed as a javelin thrower from 2014 to 2016 and was runner-up at the 2015 NCAA Championships. The Accra, Ghana, native owns the career record throw for MTSU (81.55 meters) and was the CUSA champion in 2015 and 2016.

Paige (Goeglein) Davis (soccer): Davis played for the Raiders from 2009-12, winning the 2012 Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Year while scoring 32 points and leading MTSU to a 14-5-1 record and Sun Belt championship. Her 32 points that season set a single-season program record. She helped lead the program to a 49-29-6 record. The Fort Wayne, Indiana, native ranks seventh in program history in points, is tied for third in matches played, and ranks fourth in game-winning goals.

Isabela Kozon (volleyball): Kozon helped lead the Blue Raiders to four NCAA Tournament appearances (2007-10), including winning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year and honorable mention All-American in 2010. The three-time all-conference selection finished her career ranked first in the 25-point rally scoring era in kills (1,330), kills per set (3.58), attacks (3,311), service aces (88), and double-doubles (33).

Ken Riley (men’s basketball): A two-time All-OVC selection and team captain (1970-71), Riley is a member of MTSU’s 1,000-point club and ranks 23rd in program history in scoring. He also ranks third in career rebounds (924) and fourth in rebounding average (12.2). Riley led the Blue Raiders freshman team in scoring and rebounding during the 1966-67 season with 398 points and 353 rebounds. He also earned three letters in track.
