Where Lamar Jackson-Zay Flowers land in a ranking of top AFC QB-WR duos

It doesn’t get much prettier than a Lamar Jackson rainbow finding Zay Flowers in stride. Baltimore Ravens fans have become accustomed to seeing it. The rest of the NFL is beginning to appreciate it as well. In Baltimore’s final game of the 2025 season, Jackson’s final two touchdown passes traveled 50 and 64 yards. Unfortunately for Ravens fans, those highlights came in a losing effort. What they also provided, however, was another reminder of how dangerous the connection between Jackson and Flowers has become. The Ravens spent years searching for a true No. 1 receiver. Now they have one. Flowers eclipsed 1,200 receiving yards last season while continuing to develop into one of the NFL’s most complete young wideouts.

Combined with Jackson’s elite arm talent and ability to extend plays, Baltimore now possesses one of football’s most explosive offensive pairings. The question is simple. Where do they rank among the AFC’s best? Thank you for asking the question.

For now, this remains the standard. Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase brought championship chemistry from LSU to the NFL. The results have been remarkable. Chase remains one of the league’s most productive receivers while Burrow continues to rank among football’s most accurate passers.

The combination of elite production, consistency, and years of shared experience keeps them atop this list. They edge out Jackson and Flowers slightly because, while the Ravens’ stars are without equal on most rosters, over the last three seasons, Chase leads all receivers in receptions (352), receiving yards (4,336), and 32 touchdown receptions, and he didn’t need to play with Burrow full-time to accomplish such.

Only Amon-Ra St. Brown (33) has more touchdowns than Chase during that same stretch.

This feels justified. Why? Zay Flowers doesn’t have elite size, but he certainly plays like one of the best at his position. He has become everything Baltimore hoped he would be when he was selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

He’s dynamic after the catch, dangerous vertically, and capable of creating separation against virtually any defensive back. Meanwhile, Jackson remains one of the most unique offensive weapons the NFL has ever seen. Defenses must account for his arms and legs on every snap.

Together, they’ve become one of football’s most explosive combinations. Stay tuned, we could be talking about them topping this list at the end of the regular season. This pairing is the definition of a combo that can score from anywhere.

Few combinations possess more upside. No other combo in the AFC has a three-time MVP, except for the Pittsburgh Steelers, of course. Aaron Rodgers is a four-time MVP. More on that in a second.

Mahomes remains capable of creating offense from impossible situations, while Worthy’s speed can stress defenses in ways few receivers can. The timing and chemistry aren’t fully polished yet, but the flashes have been impossible to ignore.

Don’t be surprised if this duo climbs significantly by year’s end. With Mahomes, anything is possible, and we know he’ll do his part.

These two haven’t played together yet, so, whether fair or not, their ranking is based on ‘potential.’ We’ll see how they fare and if that changes their standing on this list come season’s end.

Josh Allen’s presence alone keeps this pairing near the top. The addition of Moore gives Buffalo something it has lacked since Stefon Diggs departed: a proven perimeter threat capable of turning routine catches into explosive gains. The ceiling is enormous, but they need to produce together in the regular season before climbing higher.

Yes, Drake Maye and his Patriots teammates just represented the American Football Conference in Super Bowl LX. That’s saying something. Yes, adding A.J. Brown gives Maye the elite receiver he needs on the outside.

There are, however, questions. Did the Patriots benefit from their schedule and from playing a Denver Broncos team without its QB1, or is this truly a powerhouse capable of another deep playoff run? Barring any Super Bowl jinx

It was close, but the tandem of Justin Herbert and Ladd McConkey edged out Aaron Rodgers and D.K. Metcalf, albeit slightly. Here’s where the argument landed. If forced to wager, we’d predict a Chargers playoff appearance over the Steelers. Plus, as good as they once were, no one fears Rodgers and Metcalf like they used to. We aren’t talking about the same Aaron Rodgers who won four MVP trophies.

Talent isn’t in question, but this team has to win some important games before they rise any higher than sixth on a list like this one. Is this the season they finally push through? Forgive us if we have our doubts. Expect big moments from Herbert and McConkey. Past that, we’ll believe it when we see it.
