Where did MSU football land in latest bowl projections from CBS Sports?

Michigan State football is off to a strong start to the season, but they’re still not getting much love in the latest batch of bowl projections from CBS Sports.

For another week, the Spartans have been left off the updated bowl projections released by CBS Sports following week two action. Michigan State was passed up by Wisconsin (Duke’s Mayo Bowl) Minnesota (Pinstripe Bowl), Illinois (First Responder Bowl) and Nebraska (Cactus Bowl) for slots in the Big Ten bowl tie-ins in this week’s projection.

Michigan State handled Eastern Michigan for a second straight win to open the season this past weekend. The Spartans are 2-0 on the year and will need four more wins to reach bowl eligibility for the first time since 2021. The schedule gets harder from here, though, as the next game up for Michigan State is a road trip to No. 3 Notre Dame on Saturday.

It’s not surprising to see Michigan State left off the bowl projections from CBS Sports as not much has changed in expectations yet from the preseason. The Spartans were expected to beat both Toledo and Eastern Michigan, so until they upset someone then we most likely won’t see much change in the predictions.
