What to know about Wyoming vs CSU to open 2026 college football season

The Colorado State and Wyoming football teams meet in the 2026 season opener on Sept. 5 in what is the earliest meeting in a season ever for the rivals.

Colorado State is a 3.5-point favorite, according to BetMGM.

Jay Sawvel is entering his third season as Wyoming’s coach and has a 7-17 record.

CSU will be led by Jim Mora, who will be coaching his first game with the Rams after being hired away from UConn. Mora is 73-53 overall over 10 college seasons at UCLA and UConn. He’s also coached in the NFL.

The game will be at Canvas Stadium, CSU’s campus in Fort Collins. Canvas Stadium has a seated capacity of 36,500 and standing room max of 41,000.
