That’s been the rallying cry among Mexico fans that has grown louder and louder throughout their perfect group stage, translating to “And if so?”
El Tri has suffered a long series of heartbreaks since their last knockout stage win against Bulgaria on June 15, 1986. With homefield advantage back on their side, El Tri has a real chance to end the 40-year drought on Tuesday.
But it won’t be easy.
Ecuador is a team that many had higher hopes for than their third-place finish in Group E. They have the talent. They have the tactics. They would normally know how to play in elevation due to their national team base camp in Quinto being even higher than Mexico City, but manager Sebastián Beccacece conceded that that has been neutralized due to spending most of their time lately at their World Cup training camp in Columbus, Ohio.

Despite the slow start to the tournament, La Tri showed they can rise to the occasion like they did against Germany in their final group stage match to stay alive in the World Cup. They pose a tough challenge for Mexico, but one that El Tri can still be able to overcome.
Here’s everything you need to know about tonight’s round of 32 match between Mexico and Ecuador, including the start time:

El Tri’s round of 32 match vs. Ecuador will begin at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 30.
- TV channel: Fox, Telemundo (in Spanish)
- Streaming: Fubo | Peacock (in Spanish) | FOX One App
Fox will broadcast Tuesday’s Mexico match against Ecuador in English and Telemundo in Spanish. Streaming options for the game include Fubo, which carries Fox and offers a free trial to new subscribers, and Peacock, NBC’s subscription streaming service that will carry the Spanish-language broadcast.
The FOX One App will also broadcast the match.
