OMAHA, Neb. – The most anticipated matchup of the opening games of the College World Series will be in prime-time on Saturday night.

National No. 3 seed Georgia baseball and No. 6 seed Texas, the first- and second-place teams this season in the SEC, play for the first time this season.

Georgia (51-12) is 8-0 since the regular season ended, going 3-0 in the SEC Tournament to win the title, 3-0 in the Athens Regional and 2-0 against Mississippi State in the super regional last weekend. It has won 19 of the last 20.

“I think it’s just momentum for me in this game is guys are waking up every day and just trying to win today and be really good at a plan, knowing that Texas has got a phenomenal left-handed starter,” Georgia coach Wes Johnson said. “They’ve got a good bullpen, but they’re different. And so momentum’s not going to carry you through. … You better have a really good plan and be ready to swing. ”

That left-handed starter is sophomore Dylan Volantis who is 10-1 with a 2.13 ERA.

Texas (45-13) beat Oregon in two games in the super regional in Austin after beating Holy Cross, Tarleton State and UC Santa Barbara in the Austin Regional.

Georgia will play Texas on ESPN. Announcers for the game are Karl Ravech, Kyle Peterson, Chris Burke and Kris Budden.

Georgia and Texas will play at Charles Schwab Field at 8 p.m. Saturday.

The CWS begins June 12 and could last until June 22.
