The Western Michigan Broncos got a raw deal, losing to the Michigan Wolverines in very controversial fashion in Ann Arbor after one second was added to the clock.
Given a second chance at a game-ending Hail Mary despite the clock reaching 0:00 as the pass sailed out of the end zone on the previous play, Bryce Underwood found JJ Buchanan for a 47-yard touchdown pass.
No. 16 Michigan escaped with a 13-12 win against WMU.
It was Wolverines head coach Kyle Whittingham’s debut at the school. Michigan was a 27.5-point favorite against its game Mid-American Conference opponent.

Here’s what I don’t get: if the official game time isn’t what we’re seeing on TV, what’s the point of showing the clock on TV? It’s 2026; surely the networks can get synched up with the “real” clock by now. If we saw it reading 0:00.17, everyone’s operating with the same info.

This game is OVER why would there ever be a a second left. The ball was not touched with a second left. What an awful call! Pathetic.

It wasn’t particularly close. The ball was still in the air when the clock hit 0:00.
We’re going to need an explanation why the officials put 1 second back on.

Like we’ve always said:
It’s a 60 minute and 1 second game
