We’ll prove Nigerians are more than FG if Atiku is arrested – Dino Melaye dares EFCC

Former Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye, has warned the Federal Government against any attempt to invite, arrest or interrogate the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Melaye said the ADC would prove to the Federal Government that Nigerians are more than those in government if Atiku is invited or arrested for any frivolous corruption petition.

In a video on his X page, Melaye said, “This is our note of warning, if due to this frivolous petitions you invite, arrest, or interview Atiku Abubakar, and we are not saying it with fear or favour, we will prove to you that those in government are less than one percent of the population of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We will prove to you that the people own government.”

Recall that a former member of the House of Representatives, Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, had petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes, EFCC, to reopen the corruption cases against Atiku.

In the petition, the former member of the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, claimed that between 2005 and 2006, the anti-graft agency investigated and made a report on the allegation of corruption involving Atiku while he was Vice President.

The petition was signed on behalf of Agbonayinma by Hannibal Egbe Uwaifo, SAN.

Between 2005 and 2006, the EFCC and an administrative panel probed Atiku over alleged money laundering, abuse of office, and the diversion of about $135 million in Petroleum Technology Development Funds, PTDF.

The investigation led to a bitter political fallout between Atiku and former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

On December 20, 2006, a Lagos State High Court set aside the EFCC administrative indictment, ruling it unconstitutional and flawed.
