Wednesday Seacoast Roundup: Somersworth volleyball remains unbeaten, more results

GILFORD — The Somersworth High School volleyball team remained unbeaten on the season, sweeping Gilford, 3-0, in a Division II match on Wednesday, Oct. 7.

The Hilltoppers won by scores of 25-12, 25-18 and 25-23 to improve to 11-0 on the season.

Emily Runions led Somersworth with 16 kills and 13 digs. Paige Demers added 11 kills and six blocks, while Kylie Pettengill had 28 assists.

HAMPTON – Emily Pitfick had 27 assists, five digs and two aces for Winnacunnet in its Division I loss.

Individual set scores were 25-21, 25-15, 22-25, 25-22.

Mia Botnick had six kills and two aces for the Warriors, while Nadia Johnson had seven digs, three aces and two kills.

DOVER – Grace Kelly had seven kills and Lottie Olkkola had four for Dover (6-7) in this Division I match.

Individual set scores were 25-20, 25-14, 25-20.

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine – Megan Libby had 26 assists, five aces, eight digs and two kills for Berwick Academy in this five-set win.

Piper Clews had 10 kills and two blocks for the Bulldogs, and Corinne Besette had seven aces, seven kills and seven digs.

Berwick Academy boys, girls compete in quad-meet

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — Both the Berwick Academy boys and girls cross country teams competed against Pingree School, Beaver Country Day School and Dana Hall School.

In the boys race, Berwick’s Mikhail El-Badry placed second overall in 17 minutes, 43 seconds. Henry Hudson finished third in 19:26, while Benjamin McGowan was fourth in 19:29. Berwick earned team victories over both Beaver Country Day and Pingree.

On the girls side, Mia Leveille paced the Bulldogs with a second-place finish in 23:39. Gracie Smith was third in 23:47 and Tiffanie Groth placed fourth in 24:02. Berwick defeated Beaver Country Day and Dana Hall, but lost to Pingree.
