Watch Kay Adams interview Sean Payton, Bo Nix and more at Broncos camp

Training camp gives the opportunity to get the perspective of many different voices within an organization. FanDuel TV’s Kay Adams has been traveling around the league, going to different teams, and Monday was her opportunity to sit down with several Denver Broncos players and coaches.

Adams interviewed coach Sean Payton, quarterback Bo Nix, cornerback Pat Surtain and pass-rusher Nik Bonitto about a wide range of topics.

We take a look at highlights from each interview Adams conducted below.

In her interview with coach Payton, Adams asked Payton to do her job for a minute. She asked Payton what is the question about the Broncos heading into 2026. Payton gave a very thoughtful answer. “They won 11 to 13 fourth-quarter games,” Payton said. “Historically speaking, when you look those numbers and you find the 12 teams or the 10 teams that have done that, this is what they’ve done the next year. And so I think it’s important for us to look closely at, ‘all right, where is the room for growth still?’ And there’s a lot of things we didn’t do well. The first thing is to not play in as many one-score games… We want quicker starts… You want to be uncommon. And so those are all the common stats that we’re looking at. And I think we have an uncommon team.”

Payton also spoke about attending the Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony for Drew Brees, quarterback Bo Nix’s health and mobility, Jaylen Waddle’s superpower, new offensive coordinator Davis Webb and more. You can view Adams’ full interview with Payton below.

Adams asked Nix about the impact of second-year wide receiver Pat Bryant, who has been a standout player through the first two weeks of camp. Nix praised the young pass-catcher and his progression from year 1 to year 2. Nix specifically spoke about a catch Bryant made in Saturday’s practice, a play which many are calling the play of camp thus far. “It was blitz-zero, so I kinda just threw it up,” Nix said. “Knew he was on the blitz zero route. He was running a corner, and it was kind of one of those you throw it, you’re like, ‘Well, either he can catch it, or nobody’s gonna catch it, it’ll be incomplete, it’s fine. We’ll go to the next play.’ And he came down with it, and then everybody sort of went crazy. But he’s been playing really well. He’s playing fast. He’s playing just savvy. He’s playing smart; he’s just a really good weapon. He’s a good receiver, and he does the dirty work.”

Adams sat down with the 2024 Defensive Player of the Year, and asked him about the feeling he had when the Broncos traded for his college roommate Jaylen Waddle. “Man, I was happy,” Surtain said. “I was very happy. I was actually training during the time, and I got a call from (Waddle). Then we talked, and he was like, ‘Man, he’s coming to Mile High.’ I was lit up, man… Honestly though, it’s been like for a while now where I felt like it was destiny. It was bound to happen.”

Surtain also talked about his dismay of being the second-highest rated cornerback in the Madden video game. “I like [New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez, the highest-rated corner in the game] too, but I’ve been due for a 99 (rating). I’m just waiting for that 99.”

Adams asked the Broncos‘ top pass-rusher in terms of sacks from 2024 and 2025 about the offense, led by new play-caller Davis Webb. “(Webb has) just been throwing some crazy stuff at us for sure,” Bonitto said. “I mean, he’s got motioning everywhere and so much pre-snap going on, and it’s kind of messing with us a little bit. It’s a lot of creativity that he’s got going on, so I’m excited to see it.”

Bonitto also said his goal in 2026 is to be better than last season. Mind you, he is coming off a 14-sack campaign in 2025. “I don’t want to put no numbers out there or nothing like that, but I mean, (I’m) just continually trying to get better,” Bonitto said. “I mean, I had 14 (sacks) last year, so I mean that would just be the goal to try to be better than that, and just be better in every facet of my game.”
