Washington injury report for home test against Penn State

· · 2 min read

The Washington Huskies are about as healthy as they can be heading into a Saturday showdown against Penn State at Husky Stadium.

Safety Alex McLaughlin, linebacker Xe’ree Alexander, edge rusher Ramzak Fruean, and offensive linemen Kolt Dieterich, Geirean Hatchett, and Champ Taulealea are all off the injury report after being upgraded to probable on Friday. The Huskies will only be without players who have already been ruled out for the season as a result.

Here’s how the injury report looks coming into the game.

RB Jordan Washington – OUT

Washington suffered a neck injury during spring practice and is out for the season. He was expected to be the Huskies’ top running back this year before the injury, after spending last season as the third back behind Jonah Coleman and Adam Mohammed. Washington has been seen with the team at times, and head coach Jedd Fisch has said he should be able to return to football, just not this season.

WR Christian Moss – OUT

Moss, a sixth-year transfer from Kennesaw State, injured his quad on the first play of the season and will miss the rest of the year. Fisch said a few weeks ago that the Huskies are exploring a medical waiver for him, but the climate for such an exemption is unknown after the NCAA updated its eligibility rules this summer. Moss started at X receiver against Washington State, but has been replaced by now-leading receiver Chris Lawson.

RB Quaid Carr – OUT

Carr injured his hand during the Apple Cup and will miss the rest of the season, according to Fisch. The second-year back took control of the backfield after Washington’s injury and was the starter in the season opener. Since his absence, the Huskies have leaned primarily on freshman Brian Bonner Jr. and sixth-year Trey Cooley, but Washington also got fourth-year Jayden Limar back from an Apple Cup injury of his own last week.

C Landen Hatchett – OUT

Hatchett announced on social media last week that testing during the bye week had revealed a head/neck/spine injury that would keep him out for the rest of the season. The fourth-year center was able to play in only two games this year after missing the beginning of the season while recovering from a wrist injury. In his statement, Hatchett also indicated that he plans on returning next year.

S CJ Christian – OUT

Christian, a seventh-year safety who transferred to Washington from Florida International, tore his Achilles in spring practices and will be out for the year. Fisch has not been as definitive about pursuing a medical waiver for him as he has been about Moss, potentially because Christian already has an additional year in college under his belt. He was expected to primarily contribute on special teams this season.
