The Golden State Warriors have had a disappointing offseason, to say the least, and it stings after they were heavily linked to potential moves for Anthony Davis and LeBron James. However, none of that came to fruition.

Instead, Golden State brought in players who did little to move the needle when it came to making the team a legitimate championship contender. That led to speculation about whether Steph Curry could eventually request a trade, but that does not appear to be happening.

“Steph Curry is not going to be requesting a trade,” ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel said on the Clutch Scoops podcast. “We have that on extremely good authority from the Warriors that Steph Curry is staying there. He wants to remain there his entire career.”

The Warriors also re-signed Draymond Green to the same deal he previously had before opting out to give the organization additional flexibility to pursue free agents.

“Draymond Green has agreed to return to the Golden State Warriors on a one-year, $27.7 million deal, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul tells ESPN. The contract is the same Green opted out of to give the Warriors flexibility to pursue LeBron James, but the sides land his return Tuesday,” ESPN Shams Charania wrote.

With Golden State unable to add any major stars this offseason, the team could be setting itself up for a much bigger move next summer. During his podcast, Green discussed facing the Denver Nuggets on Christmas Day and appeared to quietly hint that the Warriors could potentially pursue Nikola Jokic following the season.

“Got the Joker coming into Dub Nation, San Francisco,” Green said. “There’s been a lot of talk about Joker in San Francisco as of late, I’ve been reading. I’m sure they’ll be a ton of talk by then, by Christmas Day, depending on how the teams are doing.”

Of course, the four-time NBA champion did not come out and directly say the Warriors are going to pursue Jokic. However, there is enough context surrounding the comment to suggest Green knows there could be momentum toward a potential pursuit by that point in the season.

Jokic has made $304 million throughout his career, and whoever signs him next will likely have to make a massive financial commitment. If the Warriors somehow added Jokic to their core, pairing him with Curry would create one of the most legendary duos in NBA history.
