This offseason for the Golden State Warriors has been all about free agency and extending Steph Curry as his career comes to an end. Free agency was a little disappointing for the Warriors, to say the least, but they were able to save it.

Right before the start of training camp, Golden State and Curry were able to agree on an extension.

“Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has agreed to a two-year, $116 million contract extension, tying the franchise legend to the only organization he has ever known through his 20th NBA season, league sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania on Friday. The deal includes a player option in the final season (2028-29), according to sources,” ESPN’s Anthony Slater wrote.

With Curry committing to an extension, others are wanting to stick around to play with him. Two players who are now wanting to retire with the Warriors because of it are Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler.

“Butler and Green have expressed interest in retiring with the Warriors, though doing so could require them to return on substantially smaller contracts,” The Athletic’s Nick Friedell wrote.

There is one more guy who could possibly be getting an extension in the next couple of weeks. That is Brandin Podziemski. NBA insider Brett Siegel believes he could get an $18 million extension.

“While he and his representation would obviously want to try and maximize a contract extension, these figures are a little unrealistic for Podziemski at this juncture. That is why there is a wide belief that an extension for Podziemski would fall in the $16 million to $18 million range, which would help the Warriors immensely and still give them max contract cap space next summer,” Siegel wrote.

This would be a good deal for the guard, as he has really enjoyed his time with Golden State so far. They took a flyer on him out of college, and it has really paid off for both sides.

He is going to be a key to the Warriors’ success this season, so if he can agree on a deal like that, then it will happen. The two sides want to stay together, meaning a deal should come together very soon.
