WAFCON 2026: ‘It’s a final’ — Madugu declares ahead Super Falcons vs Cameroon

Super Falcons head coach, Justine Madugu, has described his team’s upcoming clash with Cameroon at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations as a decisive test, DAILY POST reports.

The defending champions secured a place in the quarter-finals following an emphatic 6-2 victory over the Cleopatras of Egypt at the Olympic Stadium, Rabat, on Wednesday night.

Nigeria will face Cameroon in Casablanca on Sunday with a place in the semi-finals – and an automatic qualification ticket for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil – at stake.

Madugu declared that his players would approach the game with maximum focus.

“It’s a final for us. We won’t take it for granted,” Madugu told reporters after his side’s victory over Egypt.

The gaffer also admitted that they put themselves in a difficult position after losing to Malawi in their first game.

“We put ourselves in a very difficult position, but thank God we managed to get out of it.The competition is just starting for us,” added Madugu.
