The final Guthrie Athlete of the Week award of the 2025-26 school year is up for grabs, with six candidates in line for the honor for their efforts in events that took place Saturday, May 30, until Friday, June 5.

Voting will remain open until noon Thursday, June 11. You can vote below.

Athlete of the Week nominees are from the coverage areas of the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin, Elmira Star-Gazette, Ithaca Journal and Corning Leader.

Logan Aman, Candor boys track & field: Aman posted the fastest overall times in the finals of the 100-meter dash (10.5) and 200 (21.34) at the two-day Section 4 qualifier for the state championship meet. He broke the Section 4 record in the 100 (10.47) earlier in the season.

Tessa L’Amoreaux, Maine-Endwell softball: L’Amoreaux tossed a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts in a win against Oneonta in the Section 4 Class A final, followed by a one-hit shutout in M-E’s victory over Seaford in a state subregional.

Mason Markle, Horseheads baseball: Markle struck out 10 in a five-hit shutout while collecting two hits and two RBIs as defending state champion Horseheads beat Hamburg in a NYSPHSAA Class AA regional final.

Cella McLaughlin, Corning girls track & field: McLaughlin broke the section record in the 100-meter dash at the Section 4 state qualifier with a finals time of 11.92 seconds. She also led the field in the 100 hurdles (13.76) and long jump (18 feet, 6.75 inches).

Kylee Richardson, Susquehanna Valley softball: Richardson went 3-for-4 with a homer in a win over Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour in the Section 4 Class B final, then tripled and drove in three runs in a victory over Norwood-Norfolk in a state subregional.

Sophie Schoonover, Corning softball: Schoonover went 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs in a win over Elmira in the Section 4 Class AAA final, then hit a go-ahead two-run homer in a state subregional victory against Newburgh.
