Vote: IndyStar boys golfer of the year

The IHSAA boys golf season wrapped up on Wednesday, June 17 and now it’s time for readers to decide the top golfer in the state.

Make your pick in the poll at the bottom of the article. The poll will close at noon on Friday, June 26.

Westfield edges Center Grove for second straight state title at IHSAA boys state golf meet

Baker tied for fifth at state with a 145, which is an improvement from his 39th place finish from his junior year. He placed third individually at sectionals before he helped the Spartans place second as a team at regionals.

Carlson placed fourth at state, shooting a 144 as a sophomore. He was a major factor in Center Grove’s second-place team finish at state.

Cook closed out his stellar freshman season with a third-place finish at state. He shot 1-under-par, shooting a 143 over two days.

Divido was a regional runner-up before he tied for 12th at the state meet. He shot a 148 as a sophomore on the grand stage.

Kutchma came up clutch in the individual and team race at the state meet. He birdied on hole 18 to help the Shamrocks clinch their second consecutive team title. He then defeated Guerin Catholic’s Eli Wessel in a two-hole playoff. Kutchma shot a two-day total of 142 at state.

Lamborne, a regional champion, tied for 12th at the state meet. He shot a 148 as a senior.

Leaman tied for fifth at state. He shot a 145 at the Prairie View Golf Club as a senior. He placed fourth at regionals and was a runner-up at sectionals.

Lemmon, who was a runner-up at sectionals, won his first regional title and earned his first state berth in a playoff at regionals. He tied for 15th at state as a junior with a 149 score.

Marucci tied for fifth at the state meet by shooting a 145. He helped Noblesville place second as a team at regionals and tied for fifth as an individual at sectionals.

Orofino placed second at sectional and secured a regional title before he tied for 25th at the state meet. He scored a 151 in the two-day event.

After he placed second at regionals, Springer tied for ninth at the state meet. He fired a two-day total of 146 as a senior to help Center Grove place second in the team race.

Steiner became a medalist at sectional and regional before he tied for fifth at the state meet. He shot a 145 to close his high school career as a senior.

Wessel came close to the individual state title at the boys state golf meet. He fell short in a two-hole playoff to Westfield’s Hudson Kutchma. The senior shot a two-day total of 142 at state. He tied for third at regionals and earned the sole spot for third place at sectionals.
