Viral Clip Shows DeVonta Smith Fighting Back Laughter Over Trey Amos Matchup

DeVonta Smith had a good 2025 season, though his team did not have a successful one. Despite his best efforts, the Philadelphia Eagles had an 11-6 record in the regular season, and were knocked out in the playoffs with a 23-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card Round.

Smith is currently enjoying the offseason period after a tough campaign. He recently earned much attention after one of his videos got viral.

DeVonta Smith struggles to contain laughter after hearing Trey Amos’ Name

Smith had good numbers in the 2025 season, and played in all 17 regular season games. He had 77 receptions for 1,008 receiving yards and four touchdowns. It was the second time in his career that he reached more than 1,000 yards, since being drafted by the Eagles in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Smith recently grabbed headlines when a video involving him got viral. He was attending a celebrity basketball event in an indoors court on June 7, 2026, along with other NFL stars. He was seen wearing a blue jersey. A viral video footage shows him getting ready for the game while former teammate and current New England Patriots wide receiver A. J. Brown is answering questions. Browns also wore a blue jersey and was on his team.

At one point, Brown is seen holding a phone and reads out a question from it, “Tell him we are going to see him in the Commanders”. It was referring to the Eagles’ first game in the 2026 NFL season being against the Washington Commanders, in regards to Smith. A person in a red jersey next to him then asks, “Who’s going to hold Smitty?” Brown replies with the name of Commanders cornerback Trey Amos.

As soon as he said the name, they began laughing with the camera panning to Smith, who appeared to be struggling with containing his laughter. His reaction caused the video to go viral and earned him much attention. After Brown’s departure this offseason, Smith is expected to be the Eagles’ WR1.

DeVonta Smith speaks on WR1 role

Smith recently gave an interview to NBC Sports Philadelphia, where he spoke about the WR1 role after Brown’s departure. He downplayed it and said, “Regardless, however you want to look at it, one, two, three, four. End of the day, we all have jobs, and I’ve got to go out there and do it. I’m going to do the same thing I’ve been doing.”

He also added, “I’m just going out there to do my job, whatever that may be for the week that we’re playing. Whoever we’re playing, whatever the job may be for that week. I’m just trying to go out there and do that.”

DeVonta Smith will be preparing for the 2026 NFL season as he becomes the number one wide receiver there.
