Ahead of the DFB-Pokal match against VfL Osnabrück, Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany sounded optimistic that the team would get attacker Serge Gnabry back soon.
“Sometimes I also only get an update after the press conference. Serge Gnabry isn’t in the squad, but Lennart Karl is back – he’s had his first few minutes on the pitch, which is very good for us. As for Jamal Musiala, we’re having daily discussions; we haven’t had any today yet – then we’ll make a decision. He’s trained very well. It’s a question of choosing the right moment; whether that’s tomorrow, at the weekend or next week, I can’t yet say,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “We need to discuss (when he will be back) with Serge; he might be there this weekend [against Schalke] – I expect he’ll make his first appearance in the next ten days.”
In the midst of giving that update on Gnabry, Kompany dropped a bit of a bombshell in saying that Musiala has not been officially ruled out yet. Is this gamesmanship or has Musiala made great progress in the last few days?
