Every player has a “welcome to the NFL” moment. Whether it is public or not remains to be seen, but sometimes, years later, the moments folks miss out on they share later. For Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell, he shared his moment in a recent interview.
Speaking to This is Football host Kevin Clark, O’Connell talked about a moment from his time in camp with the New England Patriots. It stemmed from throwing a pass to then Patriots teammate Randy Moss. The future Hall of Famer at the time was not happy with the pass he threw and let the future Vikings head coach know it.
O’Connell shared his memory of the pass, saying, “Total duck. Wind catches it, it’s end over end … as the ball gets there he just flips his hands over and spikes it on the ground and says, ‘I ain’t catching that.'”
*Unbelievable* Randy Moss story from Kevin O’Connell about one of the first passes he threw ever in an NFL practice. I don’t want to ruin the punchline.
“It’s not very often you get your welcome to the NFL moment on your first throw of pat-and-go, practice 1.” 😂 pic.twitter.com/vo9raI2CqW

O’Connell would only throw six passes in his NFL career, and none may be as memorable to him as that one to Randy Moss that made the Hall of Famer disgusted.
