Vikings DC Brian Flores named George Halas Award Winner in 2026

Brian Flores has enjoyed his offseason as a member of the vikings/347" target="_blank">Minnesota Vikings and in the NFL, for the most part. While the legal process is still playing out with his lawsuit against the league, he was extended by Minnesota and is now among the highest-paid coordinators in the NFL. Now, he is also enjoying a new award that highlights him overcoming adversity to achieve in his football life.

On Thursday, the PFWA awarded Flores with the George Halas Award. It is an award that is given to the player, coach, or staff member who overcomes the most adversity to succeed.

The voters also considered San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey and Detroit Lions pass rusher Aidan Hutchison. So while the Lions got the best of the Vikings in 2025, they at least won an award over one of their division rivals.
