Vikes Views: Who Ya Got? Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears

The Minnesota Vikings travel to the unfriendly confines of Soldier Field for Week 2. The Vikings roll into Chicago riding high after destroying the Green Bay Packers in the 4th quarter last week. However, the Bears (at least the offense) had a great time Week 1 against the Panthers. They went on the road to Carolina and came away with a 59-37 scorigami win.

• The Vikings have faced the Bears more than any other team in the league. The team’s first ever game was against the Bears in 1961. The Vikings stunned the Bears 37-13.

• The Vikings have won seven of their last ten trips to Soldier Field.

• Kevin O’Connell’s teams are 4-1 at Soldier Field, with the lone loss a 12-10 defeat in 2023, thanks to four interceptions from the Passtronaught. KOC is 6-2 overall against Chicago

• The Vikings have scored 27 or more points in four of their last five road games against the Bears.

This one is a little harder for me to pick than last week’s game. The Vikings defense dominated the fourth quarter against Green Bay, but the offense struggled until it was given several short fields to work with. The Bears are coming off a dominant offensive performance, although their defense left plenty to be desired.

Chicago steamrolled Carolina on the ground, rushing for 291 yards as a team. D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai both topped 100 yards while Caleb Williams added another 65 yards and a score with his legs. The group combined for six rushing touchdowns.

The Vikings defense is not the Carolina defense, however. Sunday’s matchup feels like strength versus strength. If Minnesota can slow down the running game and force Williams into obvious passing situations, they’ll have a chance to steal one on the road.

As always, the turnover battle looms large. Right now, I have a little more faith in Caleb Williams protecting the football than I do Carson Wentz.
