The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, says his administration will not tolerate car races in residential areas in the nation’s capital
Wike stated this during an inspection of some ongoing projects in the territory while responding to questions raised on the dangers car racing activities pose to motorists and residents of the FCT.
Though he said no formal complaint has been made in this regard, he will look into it and ensure the safety of FCT residents
“No formal complaint has been made, but now that we have heard from you, I will check the traffic section and let them understand that we will not allow that,” Wike said.
“If they want to carry out their car racing, they should know that there are designated areas for it, not where we have people’s residences.”
“I appeal to them to understand that their rights have limitations and life is more important. Be assured that we will do everything possible to ensure we will not allow car racing in residential areas, but on the highway I doubt we will stop it.”
On the projects inspected—the 13.125 kilometre Apo-Karshi road and 14 kilometre Bwari to Kubwa road—the Minister assured timely completion of the projects
