Video shows police point Taser at Paige Bueckers during Arike Ogunbowale's March arrest

Body camera footage from the Miami Police Department showed that an officer pointed a Taser at former UConn women’s basketball star Paige Bueckers, according to a California Post report.

The footage was recorded during the arrest of Dallas Wings teammate Arike Ogunbowale on the morning of March 5, after players celebrated Ogunbowale and Mist BC winning the 2026 Unrivaled championship.

In the video obtained by the Post, which reportedly took place outside the Miami nightclub E11EVEN, Bueckers had her arms around Ogunbowale and can be heard saying, “We got her.” The officer responded by instructing Bueckers to remove her hands from Ogunbowale and raised the Taser toward the former UConn star.

Ogunbowale was seen being placed into handcuffs on the body camera footage and was arrested around 4:20 a.m., according to Miami-Dade County records cited by ESPN. The four-time WNBA All-Star was charged with misdemeanor battery after authorities alleged she punched a nightclub security guard in the face, but the prosecution withdrew the criminal charge in May before the case went to trial. 

From 2015 to 2019, Arike Ogunbowale starred at Notre Dame, earning first-team All-America honors and scoring 107 points in six meetings against UConn. In the 2018 Final Four, Ogunbowale drilled one of the most memorable shots in college basketball history from the right wing to lead the Fighting Irish past UConn in overtime, 91-89, then helped Notre Dame eliminate the Huskies again in the national semifinals the following season during her senior year. 

Ogunbowale was selected No. 5 overall in the 2019 WNBA Draft by the Wings and has spent her entire career in Dallas, earning four consecutive All-Star nods from 2021 to 2024. The Wings selected Bueckers first overall in the 2025 draft. Since then, Ogunbowale’s scoring average has declined, though she, Bueckers and fellow UConn alum Azzi Fudd have formed one of the league’s most productive backcourts while leading a historic turnaround in Dallas.
