Veteran WR Praised by Washington Football Coaches Ahead of Fall Camp

Christian Moss has already started to show why his surname thrives in the friendly green confines of the Pacific Northwest.

Moss, a 6-foot-3 and 200-pound sixth-year wide receiver transfer from Kennesaw State, received high praise from the Washington Huskies coaching staff and players on Tuesday ahead of the start of training camp on Thursday.

“It’s funny, when you get back, and the whole team is talking about what Christian did this summer,” receivers coach Kevin Cummings said, noting the growth Moss made during player run practices and workouts over the past few months.

In his last season at KSU, the Kennesaw, Georgia, native hauled in 45 receptions for 689 yards and 2 touchdowns while appearing in all 14 games for the Conference USA program.

Both of his touchdowns came in road wins at Florida International and Liberty, which propelled the Owls to a 10-win season and a Conference USA championship with a 19-15 win over the Jacksonville State Gamecocks. The bulk of his production came between October and November, a crucial point this coming fall that certainly will determine if Moss can play for two different double-digit-win teams in a row or not.

Moss is expected to compete for playing time at the X receiver position along with second-year Chris Lawson, first-year additions Jordan Clay and Trez Davis, along with others in the mix.

Whether the veteran transfer, who began his college football career at Virginia Tech before he returned home to rebuild his path at Kennesaw State, ends up being the go-to weapon for third-year quarterback Demond Williams Jr. or turns out to be one of several dependable pass-catchers, whichever path leads to more wins will be the one that proves fruitful.

“I think he’s done a heck of a job,” Cummings added. “It’s been really cool to hear the feedback we’ve gotten from players (of Moss). So, as a staff, we’re excited to go see what it looks like in practice.”
