“Very Unprofessional” – Tennis Fans Upset As Venus & Serena Williams Skip US Open Press Duties After Doubles Loss
Tennis fans slammed the Williams sisters for a no-show at the post-game press conference following their opening-round loss in women’s doubles at the US Open on Friday night. At a packed Arthur Ashe Stadium, Serena Williams (44) and Venus Williams (46) attempted to roll back the years but fell to Maya Joint and Chan Hao-Ching in three competitive sets.
After the disappointing loss, the Williams sisters skipped the post-game press conference, as tennis analyst Ben Rothenberg reported on social media. Fans quickly took note of the latest development and shared their reactions, slamming the sisters for not attending the press conference.
“They’ve never been good sports, why would they change now? I’d love to what Billie Jean King thinks about these no-shows from them. Very unprofessional after so many players before them did all the work,” one fan commented.

Venus also competed in the singles discipline but suffered a heartbreaking opening-round loss to fellow American Sofia Kenin in straight sets. Serena played in one other discipline at Flushing Meadows but didn’t fare too well in that either.
Serena Williams Partnered With Carlos Alcaraz in a Failed Mixed Doubles Bid
More than the game, fans were excited to see Williams partner with seven-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz in what felt like an exhibition event. In front of a packed Arthur Ashe crowd, Alcaraz and Williams played brilliant tennis in the opening round, defeating Lloyd Glasspool and Erin Routliffe in straight sets.
But their firepower faltered in the next round when they faced No. 4 seeds Belinda Bencic and Flavio Cobolli. The Swiss-Italian pair sealed a straight-sets win, knocking out the Williams-Alcaraz pairing and ending their bid to further enthrall the crowd with their game.
