Giovanni van Bronckhorst has returned to Feyenoord as head coach on a two-year contract, with the option for an additional year.
Van Bronckhorst has been named as Robin van Persie’s successor, returning to the club for a second time as head coach, having also played for them.
He was previously at the helm at Feyenoord between 2015 and 2019, taking charge of 176 matches in all competitions during that spell.
The 51-year-old boasted a 60.8% win rate during that time, winning 107 of those games (D26 L43).
Van Bronckhorst led them to the Eredivisie title in 2016-17, as well as winning the KNVB Cup twice, which he also managed in his playing days.

Van Bronckhorst went through Feyenoord’s youth academy as a player, joining in 1982 and making his first-team debut during the 1994-95 season.
He left to join Rangers, whom he has also since gone on to manage, at the start of the 1998-99 campaign before returning to his boyhood club in 2007 and ending his career there at the end of the 2009-10 season.
The Dutchman was most recently a part of Arne Slot’s coaching staff at Liverpool, while his last managerial job was at Besiktas, though he lasted just five months between June and November 2024.
