He said the initiative was part of broader education reforms being implemented by the state government, including the recovery and renaming of Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University and the establishment of new tertiary institutions.
The commissioner said the recruitment was aimed at strengthening the capacity of the public school system and ensuring that schools had adequate personnel to support teaching and learning.
New Teachers Pledge Commitment
Speaking on behalf of the newly recruited teachers, Philomena Maduako thanked the governor for creating the employment opportunity.
She pledged the commitment of the new teachers to improving educational standards and supporting the implementation of the state government’s education policies.
The event also featured the symbolic presentation of computer tablets to some of the newly recruited teachers.
Other beneficiaries were directed to collect their digital devices after completing their biometric enrolment.
The inauguration brings the number of newly recruited teaching and non-teaching personnel into the state education system to 6,375, with the government expecting the deployment to strengthen staffing across public schools in the 27 local government areas.
