OSHKOSH – After 14 seasons as the UW-Oshkosh women’s basketball coach, Brad Fischer is stepping away to pursue a coaching role at the Division I level.
On Friday, June 5, the announcement came via a UW-Oshkosh athletics press release.

“On behalf of UW-Oshkosh, I want to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation to Brad for the extraordinary impact he has had on our women’s basketball program, our student-athletes, and our university since he came to Oshkosh,” UW-Oshkosh Assistant Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Darryl Sims said in the press release. “Brad’s accomplishments speak for themselves. He transformed our program into one of the premier women’s basketball programs in Division III, but what makes Brad truly special is the way he developed young women into leaders, professionals and champions in life.
“While we are certainly saddened to see Brad leave Oshkosh, we are equally excited for this next chapter in his career and wish him nothing but continued success. Opportunities to advance to the Division I level are a testament to the respect Brad has earned throughout collegiate basketball and a reflection of the exceptional work he has done here at UW-Oshkosh.”
Fischer leaves as the winningest coach in school history with a record of 315-80. He was the WIAC Coach of the Year six times which ties a record.
In his tenure as head coach, the Titans made the NCAA tournament 11 times and made back-to-back final four appearances in 2024-25 and 2-25-26.
“It’s hard to put into words what UW-Oshkosh has meant to me and my family,” Fischer said in the press release. “Over the last 14 years, this place has become home. It’s where I met my wife, where I built lifelong friendships, and where I had the privilege of coaching remarkable young women who made me a much better coach and person every day.
“I am truly grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey — Jill Endries and the search committee that first gave me this opportunity, Darryl Sims, our sports information staff, athletic trainers, assistant coaches and all the people behind the scenes who helped make our program special. Most importantly and above all, I want to thank our players. Every player who ever said yes to be a Titan and lived that standard. The relationships we’ve built and the memories we’ve shared will stay with me forever.”
According to the press release, UW-Oshkosh will begin a national search for its next head women’s basketball coach “as soon as possible.”
