UVA women’s basketball earns commitment from 2027 four-star Nevaeh Roberson

New Virginia women’s basketball head coach Aaron Roussell continues to impress on the recruiting trail. After enrolling an exciting crop of transfers and a trio of incoming freshmen for the 2026 season, Roussell made his first splash in the class of 2027 with the addition of four-star wing Nevaeh Roberson, who announced her commitment to UVA via Instagram over the weekend.

A 6-foot-2 DMV product from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Roberson began her high school career at Bishop McNamara in Forestville, Maryland, before transferring to IMG Academy. The nation’s 48th overall recruit (according to On3) and a consensus four-star prospect, Roberson was being pursued by a lengthy list of big-name schools and took official visits to Virginia Tech, Florida, and North Carolina, among others.

On the court, Roberson’s biggest strength is her versatility — a perfect match for Roussell’s positionless Princeton-style offense. As a 6-foot-2 guard/wing, Roberson can score from the outside, finish through contact at the rim, and, defensively, has the length and athleticism to guard multiple positions.

Though she hasn’t been asked to initiate offense much on the EYBL circuit (she averaged 11.6 points and nearly five rebounds per game with Team Takeover this spring), Roberson’s fluidity and efficiency as a secondary scorer have helped her ascend in recruiting rankings. Overall, Roberson is a high-ceiling prospect and one of the first peaks at what’s to come in the post-Kymora Johnson era of Virginia women’s basketball.

With Roberson waiting in the wings, the ‘Hoos are looking to make some noise in year one of the Roussell era this season. While we’re still waiting on the full 2026-27 schedule, UVA announced on Wednesday that it would be renewing its in-state rivalry with Old Dominion via a two-year home-and-home series. The ‘Hoos will travel to Norfolk on November 15, 2026, to face ODU, before the Monarchs visit Charlottesville during the 2027-28 season.

The ‘Hoos will be looking to cut into the Monarchs’ 19-16 all-time advantage in the series, and the meeting in November will mark the first matchup between UVA and ODU since 2019.
