USC football freshmen tracker: How recruiting class fared vs Wisconsin

· · 2 min read

For the majority of the season, USC football has gained major success due to how well their freshmen have played. In Week 8, except for Luke Wafle being productive, the star freshmen for USC were silenced in a tough road loss.

Here is my breakdown of how each of the true freshmen for the Trojans fared in Week 4:

Deshonne Redeaux, running back

The USC Trojans‘ run game was struggling mightily, and that gave a couple of young guys an opportunity to get some reps. Redeaux saw some time, but he only managed to get 2 carries for 4 yards. He is a weapon for USC who should be getting featured more moving forward, regardless of the outcome of the game. Had he been given a few more carries in this game, I think he could have broken a big play or 2 against Wisconsin.

Shaun Alston, running back

Alston was the most productive back for USC, but he still did not have too much of an impact on the outcome of the game. Alston ran for 28 yards on 7 carries and had 2 catches for 12 yards. Alston showed his reliability in tough spots; this game was a good time for him to get much-needed experience.

Tron Baker, receiver

Tron Baker’s reps and workload have looked completely different in comparison to the start of the season. Baker is still good for 1 big play or 2. Baker had just 1 catch for 13 yards against the Badgers.

Boobie Feaster, receiver

Just like Tron Baker, Feaster did not get much of a chance to help the Trojans’ struggling offense. Feaster put up 2 catches for 18 yards. He is a player I want to see more of as this season is getting to the final stretch.

Kayden Dixon-Wyatt, receiver

The Badgers’ defense stifled the Trojans’ offense, yet they could not completely bottle up the Trojans’ best weapons. Not his best game, but Dixon- Wyatt still managed to get 5 catches for 43 yards.

Trent Mosley, reciever

Trent Mosley was also another player who refused to be taken out of the game completely. Mosley had 5 catches for 45 yards and was the Trojans’ 2nd-leading receiver. This was his quietest game of the season, and it was not surprising that the Trojans’ offense fell flat as a result.

Luke Wafle, defensive end

Wafle was one of the few bright spots for the Trojans’ defense. Wafle had 6 total tackles, 1 sack, and 1.5 tackles for loss. His play is continuing to rise, and he now has three straight games with a sack.
