The seventh week of the high school football had eye-popping plays from coast to coast.
Within this week’s USA TODAY Sports Plays of the Week highlight package are four plays from across the country.
Here’s a breakdown of each play and an opportunity to vote for your favorite play.
The Mohigans had no issues in a 47-7 win over Wheeling Park but junior Landon Cook had the play of the night, intercepting a pass in the back of the end zone and weaving his way more than 100 yards for a touchdown.
In a highly anticipated Super 25 showdown with Mater Dei, the Eagles clung to a seven-point lead with under 30 seconds remaining. In one of the bigger plays of the night, Van Raaphorst beat the Mater Dei defender to the ball and climbed the ladder for a big gain.
Wakefield shutout Athens Drive 27-0 but it was the long connection from quarterback to Quinn Pope to Sara Barlett that had the fans cheering as loud as they have all year.
Clare may have suffered a six-point loss to Shepherd, but Heinz’s touchdown run stole the show as he rushed into a volley of defenders, somehow found a hole, and broke loose to the end zone.
