UNIZIK orders probe into alleged sexual misconduct by lecturer

The university said the investigation would establish the facts and circumstances surrounding both the allegation against the lecturer and the subsequent physical assault.

“Given the seriousness of the matter, the University Management has directed that an immediate, comprehensive and impartial investigation be conducted to establish the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident,” Attah said.

He added that the matter was already under full review and that appropriate administrative procedures had been activated to ensure that justice was served fairly and objectively to all parties involved.

The university reiterated its commitment to protecting the dignity, safety and wellbeing of both students and staff, while assuring that decisive action would be taken against conduct found to violate its policies.

The management said further developments and official pronouncements on the matter would be communicated in due course.
